[11:33] Shai Khalifa: hhe, had a haircut have we???
[11:33] Sakai Openlife: yeah
[11:33] Sakai Openlife: that's the result of viewer 2
[11:33] Sakai Openlife: lol
[11:33] Sakai Openlife: screwing with my attachments
[11:33] Shai Khalifa: lol
[11:34] Shai Khalifa: viewer 2?
[11:34] Sakai Openlife: next viewer
[11:34] Sakai Openlife: we started some testing and work on the next viewer rpoject
[11:34] Sakai Openlife: (release)
[11:34] Shai Khalifa: cool
[11:34] Shai Khalifa: is Klee doing this one too?
[11:34] Sakai Openlife: *I'm not sure we'll have many ppl today being christmas week
[11:35] Shai Khalifa: Eli's really sick wth bad flu
[11:35] Shai Khalifa: so probably won't make it
[11:35] Sakai Openlife: well the weekend event seemed good
[11:35] Sakai Openlife: was quite excellent to experience
[11:36] Shai Khalifa: yeah went off without a hitch once Craig got the av sorted
[11:36] Shai Khalifa: heeh, he'd forgotten his password, and Cheops, Caro and Digi pulled a new av together for him in 3 mins
[11:36] Shai Khalifa: complete performer build
[11:36] Sakai Openlife: hi! there Abraham
[11:36] Abraham Ferryhill: hi
[11:36] Sakai Openlife: enjoy the sand
[11:36] Shai Khalifa: g'day Abe
[11:36] Sakai Openlife: sit anywhere you like ;)
[11:37] Shai Khalifa: I'm going to try to get up early in the morning to come to the play
[11:37] Sakai Openlife: play?
[11:37] Shai Khalifa: but it will be hard after late night with the meeting
[11:37] Abraham Ferryhill: yep
[11:37] Shai Khalifa: Abe's doing a trad Finnish 4-person play
[11:37] Shai Khalifa: at VLE
[11:37] Sakai Openlife: oh kool
[11:37] Abraham Ferryhill: Surreal loaned the place
[11:37] Sakai Openlife: christmas thing?
[11:37] Shai Khalifa: yeah
[11:37] Abraham Ferryhill: yes, traditional finnish christmas play
[11:38] Sakai Openlife: or christmas time traditional sort of thing?
[11:38] Sakai Openlife: cool
[11:38] Shai Khalifa: actually if we can get some plays happening, Eli's theatre would be ideal
[11:38] Sakai Openlife: feel free to sit anywhere
[11:38] Abraham Ferryhill: Star boys tradition has roots in southern europe medieval plays. It dates back to16th century reformation when christian schools tried to rise money with christmas carols. The Finnish tradition is quite same with the Swedish one though the play consist somewhat random episodes from Christmas time. The star boys had originally had Mary, Joseph and real baby but this was soon dropped out. As you can imagine when boys carry out play themselves they keep the parts with fighting and stuff like that. It was young people who exclusively played the play in 18th century and thus they wanted to be able to play it with only four actors. Though the stundents had a too much enthusiasm to towards the play. In 1797 the performing of the play was banned with penalty being 20 silvers and there were reconds in 1940s about fistfights between travelling performer groups.
[11:38] Shai Khalifa: ok who's inventory was that
[11:38] Surreal Numbers: hi.
[11:38] Surreal Numbers: not mine! :P
[11:38] Shai Khalifa: g'day Surreal
[11:38] Abraham Ferryhill: I cant see much anything. Shai and Sakai you're all invisible :P
[11:38] Shai Khalifa: one sec, I'll stand up
[11:38] Sakai Openlife: oh we're right in front of you
[11:38] Surreal Numbers: i dont see sakai's av. just your footprints and name
[11:38] Sakai Openlife: kist walk a little
[11:39] Sakai Openlife: walk a little
[11:39] Abraham Ferryhill: puff Shai
[11:39] Shai Khalifa: how's that
[11:39] Sakai Openlife: and we'll turn up ;)
[11:39] Shai Khalifa: yeah happened last week too
[11:39] Shai Khalifa: Sakai stand up and Abe will see you too
[11:39] Abraham Ferryhill: ok now
[11:39] Shai Khalifa: hehe
[11:39] Sakai Openlife: probably just something silly in the avatar 'state' that we need to correct someday
[11:39] Shai Khalifa: seems to be if you log in and someone's sitting on ground you can't see them
[11:40] Shai Khalifa: as soon as you stand after they've arrived, they can see you
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: funny we oinly really see it after we dropped the chairs in that room
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: (because now we sit on the ground)
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: lol
[11:40] Shai Khalifa: true
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: shows how often ppl really sit on the ground
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: lol
[11:40] Shai Khalifa: lol - nothing like testing by mistake
[11:40] Sakai Openlife: hehe
[11:40] Shai Khalifa: lol
[11:41] Shai Khalifa: I do a lot actually
[11:42] Sakai Openlife: So this week
[11:43] Sakai Openlife: what do i need to update about...
[11:43] Sakai Openlife: Groups
[11:43] Sakai Openlife: last major areas of that are this week
[11:43] Shai Khalifa: oh cool
[11:43] Sakai Openlife: we started on the next viewer already
[11:44] Shai Khalifa: yeah you were saying
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: Klee and I have been going over what we're including and what we're not
[11:44] Shai Khalifa: ok, that's no tmy inventory
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: some one is rummaging ....
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: lol
[11:44] Shai Khalifa: hehe - Abe!! your fault that time
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: From the looks of it we won't bother with Mesh objects
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: instead unless some thing significant changes
[11:44] Shai Khalifa: that's not so bad really
[11:44] Sakai Openlife: we'll leave that for NxG
[11:45] Shai Khalifa: with NxG to look forward to it's sort of redundant here
[11:45] Sakai Openlife: at the end of the day
[11:45] Sakai Openlife: it's a large can of worms
[11:45] Sakai Openlife: and the LL implementation of it looks poor
[11:45] Sakai Openlife: at best for now
[11:45] Shai Khalifa: will always look a bit odd here once we get used to NxG
[11:45] Sakai Openlife: and most ikely not to be opensourced
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: so anyways
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: that has started off
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: there's no firm release dates or expectations on a release
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: for the next viewer at this point
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: we're just working through how much work it's going to be!
[11:46] Sakai Openlife: (which looks like... ALOT)
[11:47] Shai Khalifa: are you guys going to look at an uninstaller for Windows users with next viewer?
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: theres already an uninstaller there now
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: (installer is uninstaller)
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: that's how it works
[11:47] Shai Khalifa: hm, but it doesn't seem to be very effective - still the same old issue folks have
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: well actually
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: i suspect
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: that
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: installing 3rd party viewers
[11:47] Sakai Openlife: interferes with common files
[11:48] Sakai Openlife: the very early implementations were also not the best
[11:48] Abraham Ferryhill: Viewer crashes regulary with me. At least part of the program so I can't take or copy items. That's most common crash I'm experiencing after 0.8144
[11:49] Shai Khalifa: I seem to only crash if I've tp'd a number of times then try to do something complex
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: perhaps sometime Abe send us some info about what you're trying to take
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: and we'll have a look
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: at the object
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: see if we can get the same result
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: (although i suspect we may not)
[11:49] Sakai Openlife: we'll take a look all the same
[11:49] Abraham Ferryhill: well just lost vb sheep in VLE tryng too rez it
[11:49] Shai Khalifa: so groups will be final this week?
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: the major components of it will be in there this week
[11:50] Shai Khalifa: cool
[11:50] Abraham Ferryhill: great
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: there's still some pretty big ninja coming up
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: on some design things
[11:50] Abraham Ferryhill: how many roles is possible to get to group?
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: for backend processes
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: so
[11:50] Shai Khalifa: and you said the new region type was set last rollup is that ready to roll too?
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: undoubtedly it'll be rehashed again
[11:50] Sakai Openlife: and polished up a few times
[11:50] Surreal Numbers: (abe, vl might need a restart. i will do that now)
[11:51] Shai Khalifa: lol, Abe looks like he needs a good rest
[11:51] Shai Khalifa: openng night nerves?
[11:51] Abraham Ferryhill: zzZZzzZzz...
[11:51] Sakai Openlife: needs? looks like he's getting it to me
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: so that's pretty much a quick wrapper on the week
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: still yes we'll push out the new region
[11:52] Shai Khalifa: lite regions?
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: from the looks of the lineup for the week
[11:52] Shai Khalifa: for Xmas?
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: it won't make it till Sunday
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: (day after christmas?)
[11:52] Shai Khalifa: that's ok, Eli's too sick to even think about being creative at the moment
[11:52] Sakai Openlife: I'm not sure about what SSO we'll be pulling out of the bag for it either
[11:53] Sakai Openlife: lol - Eli isn't the only person this is being made for lol
[11:53] Sakai Openlife: (otherwise i should quit and find a new job)
[11:53] Abraham Ferryhill: lol
[11:53] Shai Khalifa: lol, yeah, but we gunna get one as soon as they released
[11:53] Sakai Openlife: so we'll see what happens with them
[11:53] Sakai Openlife: but most likely we'll introduce them under some kind of promotion first
[11:53] Sakai Openlife: (much like we have a discount on new std regions)
[11:53] Shai Khalifa: coolo
[11:54] Sakai Openlife: we will probably put together something similar on these too
[11:54] Shai Khalifa: hey Mr Grims
[11:54] Sakai Openlife: I think the one of the ideas being tossed around during the week
[11:54] Shai Khalifa: oh, none of you are coming up on my Online messages
[11:54] Surreal Numbers: good morning grims
[11:54] Grimley Graves: hey folks
[11:54] Abraham Ferryhill: Hi Grimley, zombies walking from water lol
[11:54] Sakai Openlife: was something like maybe a $54.95 inc first 2 months
[11:54] Shai Khalifa: not had any online popups since I logged on
[11:54] Sakai Openlife: or maybe 2 months plus a week free or something
[11:54] Abraham Ferryhill: yes I have noticed that problem too Shai.
[11:54] Shai Khalifa: coolies
[11:55] Abraham Ferryhill: free flip?
[11:55] Sakai Openlife: *it's all a bit tough to come up with something astonishing as a intro promo for them
[11:55] Sakai Openlife: when they're so low cost
[11:55] Shai Khalifa: comes with a flip anyway
[11:55] Sakai Openlife: (and very very low margin)
[11:55] Sakai Openlife: yeah everything comes with 1 free flip
[11:55] Shai Khalifa: what about a selection of terrains?
[11:55] Sakai Openlife: no
[11:55] Grimley Graves: we talking lite regions?
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: you can already do whatever you like with it
[11:56] Shai Khalifa: yep
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: we're not really prepared to spent 300 hrs developing a nice looking slector or something at this point
[11:56] Shai Khalifa: yeah but a lot of new people not sure of how to do terraforming
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: we might not get the 300hrs back # 429.95
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: $29.95
[11:56] Shai Khalifa: kk
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: price really
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: not to say we're tight ass
[11:56] Sakai Openlife: lol
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: we support everyone pretty well considering
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: but it isn't a $2000 upfront like LL
[11:57] Shai Khalifa: Clay had an idea on the forum in response to Dell's issue - and that was to use the flip to test a raw file
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: or $750 a month like blue mars
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: Dell's issue is most likely edit strength
[11:57] Shai Khalifa: not a bad way to create some terrain files for sale
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: flipping won't change this
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: (it doesn't change any code)
[11:57] Abraham Ferryhill: So just to clarify you haven't cemented the plans about SSOs or avatar attached scripts for lite regions?
[11:57] Shai Khalifa: no, not saying that
[11:57] Sakai Openlife: just change the data set
[11:58] Shai Khalifa: just saying flip has a number of uses, one being for creating custom terrain files
[11:58] Sakai Openlife: sure but it won't fix his issue
[11:58] Shai Khalifa: lol
[11:58] Sakai Openlife: we already went in there and reset the terrain
[11:58] Sakai Openlife: and terrain edited things without issue
[11:58] Sakai Openlife: (no ninja just using the viewer)
[11:59] Sakai Openlife: strength bar does what it says
[11:59] Shai Khalifa: yeah you've got be subtle with terrain editing, and a lot of people aren't used to it
[11:59] Sakai Openlife: lower it and things won't be so dramatic
[12:00] Grimley Graves: hmm, I've never seen terrain edit shoot things 500 meters up
[12:00] Sakai Openlife: the only time strength has no effect
[12:00] Sakai Openlife: is when you use flatten
[12:00] Sakai Openlife: (because it does as it's word says)
[12:00] Grimley Graves: but I've never had it at full strength either
[12:00] Sakai Openlife: = make flat
[12:00] Sakai Openlife: ;)
[12:00] Shai Khalifa: I've seen it when you select a whole area and then have the setting on raise and max strength
[12:00] Shai Khalifa: and hold the mouse button for a couple of secs
[12:01] Sakai Openlife: yes the buttons strangely
[12:01] Grimley Graves: isn't it limited to 100 meters + or -?
[12:01] Shai Khalifa: no
[12:01] Sakai Openlife: not really
[12:01] Shai Khalifa: you limit that in your Estate window
[12:01] Sakai Openlife: (I don't think we actually observer any limits in that regard)
[12:01] Shai Khalifa: you can change the water height, and max and min edits
[12:01] Grimley Graves: thought you set those limits when you set up the regions
[12:01] Shai Khalifa: you can change them at any time
[12:02] Sakai Openlife: well that aside shai
[12:02] Sakai Openlife: they have no real effect
[12:02] Sakai Openlife: on private regions
[12:02] Grimley Graves: hmm, ok
[12:02] Sakai Openlife: water height does just that
[12:02] Sakai Openlife: terrain edit imits are not reall true
[12:02] Abraham Ferryhill: Tsunami on own region... wii!
[12:02] Shai Khalifa: yeah, I've noticed that, but it's never been an issue with me
[12:02] Shai Khalifa: hehe
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: well it's not something we ever really decided to work on
[12:03] Shai Khalifa: I've actually got the water level on Tropicana at +40
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: it's original purpose
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: was for LL
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: and mainland
[12:03] Shai Khalifa: and that gives me a lovely lake in the river
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: to prevent large disparities between sub parcels
[12:03] Sakai Openlife: of a region
[12:03] Shai Khalifa: but had to sort out the edge you can see
[12:03] Shai Khalifa: so have water falling off the side of the region
[12:04] Shai Khalifa: yeah would be odd
[12:04] Shai Khalifa: we don't have much mainland now though
[12:04] Shai Khalifa: is there ever any plan to create one?
[12:04] Sakai Openlife: not really
[12:04] Sakai Openlife: we may even end up removing what is there entirely
[12:04] Sakai Openlife: unless there's renewed interest in mainland style regions
[12:04] Shai Khalifa: lol you mean all of Pant's regions???
[12:05] Sakai Openlife: (just convert to PR)
[12:05] Sakai Openlife: *it's also why you can't really buy any atm either
[12:05] Shai Khalifa: mainland was nice though - even a small one would be nice
[12:05] Sakai Openlife: you have regions now at $29.95
[12:05] Sakai Openlife: (whole region)
[12:05] Shai Khalifa: sort of gave the grid a solid appearance it doesn't have with all the scattered prs
[12:05] Grimley Graves: yeah, I agree, maybe surrounding the welcome area
[12:05] Sakai Openlife: and users can easily parcel other users
[12:06] Sakai Openlife: if someone really wanted to get serious on it
[12:06] Grimley Graves: doesn't have to be big to start
[12:06] Abraham Ferryhill: Or at least have landmark givers in welcome island to direct people to developed areas.
[12:06] Sakai Openlife: they could easily promote their own new continent
[12:06] Sakai Openlife: *it's not something that is too lazy a task though
[12:06] Grimley Graves: hehe, thats where the hunt comes in handy ;) *shameless plug*
[12:07] Sakai Openlife: requires a lot of work, marketing and creation
[12:07] Shai Khalifa: lol
[12:07] Sakai Openlife: to really get up your own continent
[12:07] Shai Khalifa: I"m hoping to get to it on Friday - day off
[12:07] Shai Khalifa: yeah but to have your own continent, you have to fork out a lot of money per month
[12:07] Shai Khalifa: just so it looks like a landmass to others
[12:07] Grimley Graves: I put a sign on OL city but really want the main start to be there
[12:07] Sakai Openlife: (not really)
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: start small
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: grow up the land
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: as you pull in new parcel owners
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: it can be done quite competitively
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: even against Openlife Direct
[12:08] Shai Khalifa: I"m sure that will happen as we get p opulation anyway
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: but it's really something of passion
[12:08] Sakai Openlife: rather than something of making big $
[12:08] Grimley Graves: yeah, that needs population
[12:08] Shai Khalifa: someone's going to do the big real estate thing
[12:09] Shai Khalifa: but not until it's likely to be taken up by renters
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: sure you could get a return through 3DX on your credits
[12:09] Grimley Graves: I had a question about groups...
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: but there's no $2000 entry cost
[12:09] Shai Khalifa: at the moment, most people prefer to buy their own region
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: so there's no 'barrier' unlike elsewhere to getting land
[12:09] Grimley Graves: when will chat and notices be turned on?
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: you can 'get' it
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: in 2 mins
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: with a credit card
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: later this week
[12:09] Sakai Openlife: (answer)
[12:10] Sakai Openlife: so to get rental on mass like a continent you would need a bit of coordination
[12:10] Sakai Openlife: and really enjoy doing it
[12:10] Sakai Openlife: keeping in mind that as soon as someone is close to wanting their own region they're likely to just get one
[12:11] Shai Khalifa: you'd also need to be vry patient and able to support not having a large percentage takeup for a long while
[12:11] Sakai Openlife: nah
[12:11] Sakai Openlife: you could get it
[12:11] Sakai Openlife: if you were active in getting ppl
[12:11] Sakai Openlife: you could get them easily
[12:11] Abraham Ferryhill: Yes I'm wondering about groups too Grims.
[12:11] Shai Khalifa: what seems to happen now is that people rent because they're used to it in SL - then they realise how cheap a region is compared to what they're used to paying out - so they move over fairly quickly
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: take a look at successfull pricate continents in SL
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: (private)
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: they market
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: and run the whole thing
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: as a layer in between the user
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: and LL
[12:12] Sakai Openlife: it's not a reliance on LL to bring them users
[12:12] Shai Khalifa: yeah, but it's so bloody expensive to own a region in SL that the regular user can't afford it
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: nor for ll to magically make ppl appear in their regions
[12:13] Shai Khalifa: here it's a very affordable hobby
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: it happens because they get out there
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: and bring people into the virtual dream
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: on their own steam
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: the infamous barons of 'old ?
[12:13] Sakai Openlife: did exactly that
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: *not surprising many have taken their money and moved on
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: they made some pretty big $
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: but yeah back on your groups thing
[12:14] Shai Khalifa: so we get Groups, then lite regions
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: they'll be out this week
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: (the parts you're asking about)
[12:14] Shai Khalifa: what's next, SSOs? VMB?
[12:14] Sakai Openlife: sleep?
[12:15] Sakai Openlife: lol
[12:15] Sakai Openlife: make nxg
[12:15] Sakai Openlife: no viewer
[12:15] Grimley Graves: cool, chat is vital to the hunts
[12:15] Sakai Openlife: more stuff we need to do too
[12:15] Sakai Openlife: groups aren't going to be complete by the end of the week just some major components
[12:15] Shai Khalifa: VMBs are going to be fairly critical as we get a growing population of merchants
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: we've got a whole new infrastructure backend component to install over the coming month
[12:16] Grimley Graves: all I want for crapmas is group chat :)
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: that mimics a little of what we've been working on for NxG
[12:16] Shai Khalifa: lol likewise Grims - and roles
[12:16] Abraham Ferryhill: question: Is there a limit for amount of roles?
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: i don't know abaraham
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: most likely there is
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: and if so it will exist in your viewer
[12:16] Shai Khalifa: hey Cheops
[12:16] Sakai Openlife: If I'm not mistaken
[12:17] Shai Khalifa: didn't see you come online either
[12:17] Grimley Graves: you can create them now, just not assign people to them
[12:17] Sakai Openlife: it's tied directly to the number of users
[12:17] Sakai Openlife: something like 500
[12:17] Surreal Numbers: hi cheops!
[12:17] Grimley Graves: hi Cheops
[12:17] Cheops Forlife: hi!
[12:17] Abraham Ferryhill: In SL they had like ~20 roles in groups and that became full quite fast causing people make groups for just role tags and that caused problem because there were limited number of groups you could be member of.
[12:17] Sakai Openlife: well
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: in the next viewer
[12:18] Cheops Forlife: sorry to be late
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: we will most likely allow
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: the 3rd tag
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: (like LL does now)
[12:18] Shai Khalifa: oh cool
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: that's a use set tag
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: (user set)
[12:18] Cheops Forlife: can't see you shai
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: although I'm not so keen on the whole stack of books above everyones heads
[12:18] Shai Khalifa: I'll stand upl, one sec
[12:18] Sakai Openlife: we'll likely just use it anyway
[12:18] Cheops Forlife: ok now
[12:19] Shai Khalifa: hehe
[12:19] Sakai Openlife: and implement whatever it needds
[12:19] Grimley Graves: see everyone else Che?
[12:19] Cheops Forlife: let me compare with scanner l ol
[12:19] Cheops Forlife: yes
[12:19] Sakai Openlife: scanner is bogus
[12:19] Shai Khalifa: lol, there's Surreal, Grims, Sakai, Abe and me
[12:19] Sakai Openlife: I'd not use that
[12:20] Sakai Openlife: *another reason it won't exist in the next viewer
[12:20] Cheops Forlife: oh was so usefull!!
[12:20] Sakai Openlife: yeah but it's a resource hog
[12:20] Cheops Forlife: ah!
[12:20] Sakai Openlife: a bit like the image viewer?
[12:20] Sakai Openlife: that used to show all the images in inventory
[12:20] Cheops Forlife: something odd those times is you TP and keep your last loaction top screen
[12:20] Sakai Openlife: they're good ideas
[12:21] Sakai Openlife: but not really designed on both ends
[12:21] Shai Khalifa: until you move it does Cheops
[12:21] Shai Khalifa: then it immediately all locks in right
[12:21] Cheops Forlife: no,
[12:21] Cheops Forlife: and if I clic ground I see the owner name of my previous destination
[12:22] Sakai Openlife: need to wait a little
[12:22] Sakai Openlife: particularlly if you're arriving into a region where you're downloading a lot
[12:22] Sakai Openlife: the information flows in with everything else
[12:22] Sakai Openlife: (hence you may not have it instantl)
[12:23] Grimley Graves: is this delay maybe due to having servers in both europe and US?
[12:23] Sakai Openlife: no
[12:23] Sakai Openlife: we only have servers in the US
[12:23] Sakai Openlife: (and backup cluster in Taiwan)
[12:23] Grimley Graves: ah, there was talk of both
[12:24] Shai Khalifa: oh one thing I've been meaning to ask about for ages and keep forgetting. How come the ground cover default plants (from the editor) keep moving?
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: we dropped the european servers as per a meeting a looong time ago
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: because when we moved into the new data centre
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: we reduced ping time
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: with new premium bandwidth connections
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: and intl links
[12:24] Grimley Graves: ok, I missed that
[12:24] Shai Khalifa: yeah I remember you telling us about that
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: so for european users there is significantly less packet loss
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: and improved ping time
[12:24] Sakai Openlife: now compared to a year ago
[12:25] Sakai Openlife: for Us suers it's much the same ping time and everywhere is also reduced
[12:25] Sakai Openlife: simply due to better connectivity we have now
[12:25] Surreal Numbers: where are the servers physically? Chicago?
[12:25] Sakai Openlife: yep ;)
[12:25] Surreal Numbers: k
[12:25] Cheops Forlife: any news about the not saved work Sakai? yerstaerday was the worst for me
[12:25] Grimley Graves: hehe, currently buried in snow
[12:26] Sakai Openlife: save on cooling bills
[12:26] Sakai Openlife: hehe
[12:26] Shai Khalifa: lol
[12:26] Cheops Forlife: all what I did were lost, after relogging, after restarting...
[12:26] Grimley Graves: builds Che?
[12:26] Sakai Openlife: i still haven't received anything
[12:26] Sakai Openlife: from anyone
[12:26] Shai Khalifa: Have you tried building on a different region Che?
[12:26] Cheops Forlife: particulary some prims faces I re texture everyday, they never last
[12:26] Sakai Openlife: with a repeatable method
[12:26] Cheops Forlife: about that?
[12:26] Shai Khalifa: oh yeah, I've got a couple of prims that refuse to stay textured
[12:27] Cheops Forlife: Sync had the same, Surr you told me you lost things too
[12:27] Shai Khalifa: regardless of drag copying them
[12:27] Surreal Numbers: i have the problem also of textures not sticking or features like Light not stayiong applied after restarts
[12:27] Shai Khalifa: and I have one sign that refuses to stay regardless of how many time's I put it there
[12:27] Sakai Openlife: if no one can really take a little time to check it out it's a little difficult to expect us to hunt around for it for a few days...
[12:27] Sakai Openlife: not throwing it straight back at everyone
[12:27] Surreal Numbers: but it isnt reproducible. seems to occur at random for me
[12:28] Sakai Openlife: but a little assistance would be great
[12:28] Abraham Ferryhill: Thanks for meeting, I'll need to go for barber shop now ;)
[12:28] Shai Khalifa: I can maybe reproduce this one sign
[12:28] Cheops Forlife: yes very random
[12:28] Surreal Numbers: bye abe
[12:28] Sakai Openlife: ciao
[12:28] Shai Khalifa: and one or two particular textures
[12:28] Cheops Forlife: bye Abe
[12:28] Shai Khalifa: ok, Abe. I'm hoping to make it for the play
[12:28] Sakai Openlife: I think everyone can understand we've got pretty full plates
[12:28] Sakai Openlife: delivering so many updates
[12:28] Sakai Openlife: and new features
[12:28] Grimley Graves: see ya Abe
[12:29] Cheops Forlife: yes sure, but this problem is such a pain when you are building now!
[12:29] Sakai Openlife: even in the smallest a report with a date time place is better than nothing
[12:29] Shai Khalifa: it's just puzzling to some, but very frustrating to others, like the bad dose Che has
[12:29] Sakai Openlife: but not sending anything well...
[12:29] Sakai Openlife: hard to get an answer from nothing
[12:29] Cheops Forlife: I sent at least 3 times about that
[12:30] Cheops Forlife: I can show a prim that never stays textured atm
[12:30] Sakai Openlife: but there's no details in your send
[12:30] Sakai Openlife: what are our guys supposed to look up?
[12:30] Cheops Forlife: what to tell more? I texture, I relog, or I restart, It has gone!
[12:30] Shai Khalifa: I'll document the one on Creek on Friday
[12:30] Abraham Ferryhill: See you all later at the play
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: when
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: where
[12:31] Cheops Forlife: Gaia
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: what it was
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: so we can look up the logs in the least
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: and check it out
[12:31] Cheops Forlife: a cut roof prism
[12:31] Surreal Numbers: cheops...maybe add the time, the object, the object location, and what you did
[12:31] Grimley Graves: I'll probably miss it :( sorry
[12:31] Cheops Forlife: yes please, I can re do that and send times
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: it's not as though no one has taken any time on it
[12:31] Cheops Forlife: and not only texturing
[12:31] Sakai Openlife: we've built many thousands of prims
[12:31] Cheops Forlife: new prims, resizing prims
[12:32] Sakai Openlife: (every week)
[12:32] Cheops Forlife: it is like if I never did them
[12:32] Cheops Forlife: become mad
[12:32] Sakai Openlife: and we know you guys have told us about it we're just asking for some 'details' ㋡
[12:32] Sakai Openlife: (brb 1 min)
[12:32] Shai Khalifa: is it p ossible Che that you have someone work with you?
[12:33] Cheops Forlife: brb too RL 2 mn
[12:33] Shai Khalifa: watch and then see if it's the same on their viewer?
[12:33] Sakai Openlife: back
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: a couple of the candy bits
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: for the new viewer
[12:34] Cheops Forlife: back
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: are the permanent inclusion of shadows
[12:34] Shai Khalifa: wb both of you
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: and global illumination
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: (sun)
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: along with multiple attachments to the same point
[12:34] Shai Khalifa: can you please check them with Snow Leopard on Mac?
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: and multipl clothing layers
[12:34] Shai Khalifa: ooo, like the clothing/attachments thing
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: if you don't have the graphics capabilities for it
[12:34] Sakai Openlife: you just turn it off
[12:35] Sakai Openlife: the new graphics parts are all options
[12:35] Sakai Openlife: (and to get all the options on you need some pretty big graphics card)
[12:35] Shai Khalifa: There are a few running Snow Leopard, so maybe they can provide you with some testing feedback
[12:35] Cheops Forlife: (brb I go to save the prim I'm talking about and try here)
[12:36] Sakai Openlife: but this will be a replacement viewer
[12:36] Sakai Openlife: so that will obsolete the current viewer
[12:36] Shai Khalifa: oop, freeze
[12:37] Sakai Openlife: (brb)(
[12:37] Grimley Graves: does it have to replace it?
[12:37] Sakai Openlife: yep
[12:37] Sakai Openlife: it does actually have to replace it entirely
[12:37] Grimley Graves: :(
[12:37] Shai Khalifa: what happens if it doesn't work for some?
[12:38] Grimley Graves: is it based on viewer 2 in SL?
[12:38] Sakai Openlife: correct
[12:38] Shai Khalifa: this has been a good viewer
[12:38] Sakai Openlife: actually based on viewer 2.5
[12:38] Shai Khalifa: R17
[12:38] Sakai Openlife: we can't keep it
[12:38] Sakai Openlife: there are breaking changes
[12:38] Grimley Graves: cause that one is hard to use
[12:39] Sakai Openlife: we will co-ordinate the release with all 3 versions at the same time
[12:39] Sakai Openlife: (windows, mac, linux)
[12:39] Shai Khalifa: I have a strong dislike for the 2 viewer
[12:39] Grimley Graves: or hard to get used to anyway
[12:39] Cheops Forlife: ok now I see nobody lol
[12:39] Surreal Numbers: me too. i never use it. kept the older version
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: in order to deliver the new features (including getting voice online)
[12:40] Shai Khalifa: yah, I use Klee's old viewer - don't like the new one at all
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: we things break
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: between what we have now and what the new viewer is
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: so we must change it
[12:40] Grimley Graves: I dont dislike it as much as I am not used to it
[12:40] Shai Khalifa: :( O K ...:(
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: it's not actually exactly the same as LL's v2 either
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: (it's our mod version)
[12:40] Sakai Openlife: ㋡
[12:41] Shai Khalifa: oh cool, then hopefully it is more intuitive
[12:41] Sakai Openlife: needless to say there's a lot that it can deliver us
[12:41] Sakai Openlife: and a lot we can deliver with it
[12:41] Sakai Openlife: so it's s step worth taking
[12:42] Shai Khalifa: well we're the ones have to use it
[12:42] Sakai Openlife: we really can't keep pushing this older platform viewer any further
[12:42] Shai Khalifa: so will we get to have any input into further development of it
[12:42] Grimley Graves: wb Cheops
[12:42] Sakai Openlife: not at this stage
[12:42] Shai Khalifa: no, I mean once we have it
[12:42] Cheops Forlife: stilll see nobody lol
[12:42] Sakai Openlife: the bulk of it is only technical
[12:42] Grimley Graves: now?
[12:42] Cheops Forlife: thanks
[12:43] Cheops Forlife: yes
[12:43] Sakai Openlife: there's not a lot of items in there for us to throw out to the community at this point
[12:43] Shai Khalifa: lol, we all have to stand when the lady enteres the um - er - sand
[12:43] Grimley Graves: screenshots?
[12:43] Sakai Openlife: not yet
[12:43] Sakai Openlife: lol
[12:43] Cheops Forlife: is it autoreturn here?
[12:43] Sakai Openlife: I only just mentioned we started working through it
[12:43] Sakai Openlife: we're even close to a release yet
[12:44] Surreal Numbers: 30 minute autoreturn i think cheops
[12:44] Sakai Openlife: there's items both serverside and viewerside we need to code up first
[12:44] Grimley Graves: your prim is still here Che
[12:44] Cheops Forlife: yes I know but I want to know after a restart
[12:44] Grimley Graves: ah
[12:44] Cheops Forlife: if back in my inv I'll see how it is
[12:44] Sakai Openlife: but when we're closer I'm sure we'll release more to everyone
[12:45] Shai Khalifa: well everyone
[12:45] Shai Khalifa: it's been a long and hard day for me at work
[12:45] Shai Khalifa: it's nearly midnight
[12:45] Shai Khalifa: and I got another hard one tomorrow
[12:45] Surreal Numbers: sleep well shai. :)
[12:45] Shai Khalifa: lots to finish before closing for christmas
[12:46] Grimley Graves: have a good night
[12:46] Cheops Forlife: enough fo rthe chatlog?
[12:46] Shai Khalifa: yeah, I'll post it on Friday when I have time to do it
[12:46] Shai Khalifa: anything after I leave, if someone can please forward to me
[12:47] Shai Khalifa: I'll edit this one as there's some stuff really don't need in the record
[12:47] Grimley Graves: ok
[12:47] Grimley Graves: BTW was there ever an announcement about the "gift" to everyone?
[12:47] Shai Khalifa: huggles all round, and thanks for spending time with us again Sakai - we not having a shot at you on anything - we're right behind you on it all
[12:48] Sakai Openlife: np
[12:48] Cheops Forlife: good night Shai
[12:48] Grimley Graves: huggz Shai
[12:48] Sakai Openlife: so someone here is a lag magnet
[12:48] Shai Khalifa: someone let me know what the 'surprise' is if we find out
[12:48] Sakai Openlife: (I think cheops)
[12:48] Sakai Openlife: some kind of IM thing going on
[12:48] Shai Khalifa: catchyaz
