HOW TO BUY LAND IN OL
Mainland
Mainland regions are not currently available, but they will be making a comeback in the very near future as very special regions.
Non-Mainland
Private regions are ordered via the website. You put in an order including the region name you want to use, and pay for it.
Once this step is done, the region is generally brought online within a minute. With the further upgrade of the 3DMee website, you will also be able to nominate a location on the grid for your region, but until then, you need to send instructions via the Contact Us link at the bottom of the 3DMee website page, or speak with Sakai Openlife (Shiny 3dMee) at one of the regular resident meetings (Thursdays at 10pm UTC). There is no longer the wait for a manual update as used to be the case in the early days of the grid as Openlife.
RENTING OR BUYING FROM OTHERS
You can buy or rent parcels from private region owners. To find them, look in the Search, and teleport directly there.
If you rent, conditions may vary, but you'll usually get a generous prim allowance in comparison with anything you may have had in SL. You will not however have access to the Media tools for the parcel.
You will renew your parcel fees either using an SSO or the rental box provided by the owner.
Parcel purchase is only done via an SSO set up for the purpose. Once you pay the SSO prim you will have the About Land Tools available to you for that parcel.
SELLING LAND IN OL
You cannot sell land using the About Land window. You will need to create an SSO for the purposes of transferring the buyer's money to you and the About Land access to the purchaser. Instruction for how to create one of these SSOs is here.
Once the new buyer owns the parcel, the SSO can be deleted.
